Full-time, Permanent Basingstoke | Hybrid £55,000 - £70,000
About the role We’re looking for an experienced and driven IT Senior Developer to join our growing tech team at Reassured.
You’ll play a key role in evolving our internal CRM platform, taking ownership of complex features and helping shape the systems that support a fast-paced, highly regulated business. Working within a collaborative Scrum team, you’ll balance hands-on development with technical leadership, influencing architectural decisions and driving high-quality, scalable solutions across the team.
What you’ll be doing Support in the design and implementation of robust, scalable backend systems using PHP (Laravel/CakePHP). Take ownership of features from concept through design, development, testing, and deployment. Improve and refactor legacy systems (CakePHP) while contributing to modernisation efforts. Write clean, testable, and maintainable code aligned with SOLID principles and best practices. Ensure high-quality delivery through code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines. Support troubleshooting and resolving production issues, performing root cause analysis. Contribute to architectural decisions, including system design, integrations, and data modelling. Champion best practices across performance, security (OWASP), and scalability. Identify technical debt and lead initiatives to reduce it. Guide adoption of modern tooling, frameworks, and patterns. What we’re looking for 5+ years’ experience in PHP development Strong expertise in PHP 7.4 (CakePHP) and PHP 8+ (Laravel or Symfony) Proven experience designing and building backend systems and RESTful APIs Deep understanding of MySQL including query optimisation and scaling Strong knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5 and CSS Experience with Docker in Linux or WSL environments Proficiency with Git, including GitLab workflows and branching strategies Strong experience with unit testing and automated testing frameworks Experience conducting code reviews and enforcing coding standards
Nice to have Vue.js or Nuxt and modern frontend tooling Tailwind or other modern CSS frameworks Azure Cloud services and deployments MongoDB or Azure Cosmos DB CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab pipelines Messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ or Azure Service Bus Microservices or event-driven architectures Experience in regulated environments such as financial services or insurance
