Senior PHP Developer
£50,000 | Hybrid, 2 days per week in Leamington Spa
We’re looking for a Senior PHP Developer to join an established business with technology sitting at the heart of its operation.
You’ll help modernise a business-critical digital platform, moving away from legacy code and contributing to the development of a cleaner, more scalable PHP and Laravel-based architecture.
This is a hands-on development role, but you’ll also have the opportunity to influence technical direction, improve engineering standards and work closely with teams across the wider business.
What you’ll be doing
- Building and maintaining high-quality PHP and Laravel applications
- Helping modernise legacy systems and develop a future-proof platform
- Developing internal tools used across the business
- Working alongside backend developers, frontend developers, UX, UI and content teams
- Contributing to architecture and the wider technology strategy
- Writing clean, tested and maintainable code
- Reviewing code and sharing knowledge across the development team
- Improving CI/CD, deployment processes and development standards

What we’re looking for
- Strong commercial experience with PHP and Laravel
- Good knowledge of MVC-based frameworks and MySQL
- Experience working with legacy systems and modernisation projects
- JavaScript and TypeScript knowledge
- Understanding of HTML5 and CSS
- AWS and Linux experience
- Exposure to Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
- Experience with GitHub Actions, CI/CD and automated deployments
- A test-driven approach to development
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
