Job Title: Principal Engineer, Pipelines

Location: South East England (Hybrid)

Overview

A permanent opportunity for an experienced Pipelines Engineer to provide principal-level technical leadership across major onshore and offshore pipeline work, including carbon capture. Why This Role Stands Out

  • Principal-level technical leadership of the pipelines discipline
  • Varied portfolio across greenfield, brownfield, and carbon capture work
  • Full lifecycle involvement from concept selection through to execution
  • Genuine hybrid working with strong remote flexibility
  • International exposure with short-term visits to sites and offices worldwide

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct a team of discipline engineers and designers on large projects
  • Perform design activities for rigid onshore and offshore pipelines across all project phases
  • Supervise and review philosophies, specifications, routing studies, and mechanical design
  • Check calculations and analyses including:
    • Stress
    • Spanning
    • Global buckling
    • Walking
    • On-bottom roughness
    • Tie-ins and expansion loops
  • Oversee crossing design, hot tapping, and trenchless activities (HDD, microtunnelling)
  • Prepare datasheets and technical requisitions, compile ITTs, and perform bid evaluations
  • Validate pipeline inspection, maintenance, and emergency repair strategies
  • Check third-party design and installation activities during execution
  • Visit manufacturers (line pipe, coating, valves) as required
  • Liaise closely with process, materials and corrosion, flow assurance, instrumentation, civil, and construction disciplines

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
