Senior Planner

Senior Planner – Major Infrastructure Project | Permanent | Earthworks & Highways

Role: Permanent | 4 Days Onsite | Construction value: hundreds of millions of pounds

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Planner to join the delivery team on one of the UK’s largest and most significant infrastructure developments. This is a flagship civil engineering programme, allowing you to play a key role in successfully delivering a complex, high-profile scheme alongside project and construction teams.

Your focus will be on developing, maintaining, and optimising project programmes across major earthworks and highways packages, ensuring robust planning and project controls throughout the lifecycle.


The Role

As a Senior Planner, your responsibilities include:

  • Developing, maintaining, and updating detailed project programmes using Primavera P6.
  • Producing baseline programmes, revisions, and progress updates in line with project requirements.
  • Monitoring programme performance, identifying risks, and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborating closely with project managers, site teams, and commercial teams to ensure programme alignment.
  • Supporting NEC contract requirements through accurate programme management and reporting.
  • Preparing planning reports, look-ahead programmes, and progress dashboards for senior stakeholders.
  • Identifying critical path activities and opportunities to improve project delivery.
  • Working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure planning information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Contributing to planning best practice and continuous improvement across the project.

About You

To thrive in this role, you’ll have:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Planner on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • A strong background in earthworks and highways, with deep technical knowledge of design and execution.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, including programme development and analysis.
  • A good working knowledge of NEC contracts and aligned reporting requirements.
  • Excellent programme analysis and reporting skills with the ability to translate findings for stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities to influence and unite project teams.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while taking a proactive approach to solving challenges.
