Senior Planner – Power & Transmission (National electricity transmission infrastructure projects)
Location: Stafford (Hybrid Working)
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive + Benefits (up to £95,000)
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Planner to join a leading tier one contractors Energy & Infrastructure division, supporting the successful delivery of major power transmission, substation, and overhead line projects. This is a pivotal role responsible for leading programme development, schedule control, and planning governance across complex EPC projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update project programmes from planning through to completion.
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and support programme recovery where required.
- Manage project schedules, milestones, and baseline programmes.
- Support change management and assess the impact of project variations.
- Produce regular progress reports, dashboards, and programme updates for project teams and stakeholders.
- Undertake critical path analysis and monitor overall programme performance.
- Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support planning best practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

About You
You will bring significant planning experience within the utilities, transmission, power, or major infrastructure sectors along with a strong understanding of programme controls, contract administration, and complex stakeholder environments. You will be highly analytical, commercially aware, and comfortable working in a fast-paced delivery environment where programme certainty and client engagement are critical to success.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5-7 years' planning experience within major infrastructure, utilities, power transmission, substation, or energy projects.
- Advanced Primavera P6 expertise with the ability to develop and manage complex project schedules.
- Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities across infrastructure projects.
- Experience working under NEC3 and NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract frameworks.
- Experience in Earned Value Management (EVM), performance reporting, and planning analytics.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
