Senior Planner

Senior Planner – Fareham, Hampshire

Role Overview

Within Southern Water Frameworks under the Water and Wastewater Non-Infrastructure Engineering and Construction division, a Senior Planner opportunity has arisen.

This role supports the delivery of projects within the South Coast frameworks, ideally for candidates based in the South East with flexibility to travel across multiple sites.

Experience should include projects in water and wastewater treatment schemes, though experience in civil engineering (highways, rail, aviation) may also be suitable.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project programmes across:
    • Prequalification
    • Tender stages
    • Delivery phases
  • Create schedules using MSP/Primavera P6, including:
    • Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
    • Milestones
    • Resource planning
  • Collaborate with bid teams, designers, contractors, and suppliers to align and optimise delivery programmes
  • Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities, including value engineering exercise considerations
  • Monitor progress using methods such as:
    • Critical Path Method (CPM)
    • Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Analyse performance against baselines and update plans as needed
  • Generate reports, forecasts, and planning outputs
  • Support change management, ensuring alignment with project objectives

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in civil engineering sectors, with preference for water/именwaste industries
  • Track record delivering large or multiple concurrent projects
  • Proficiency in planning tools (MSP/Primavera P6) and project control methods
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage schedules, dependencies, and project risks
  • Professional qualification (e.g., MCIOB, MRICS) is a strong differentiator

Nice-to-Haves

  • Relevant CSCS certification
  • Adaptability for travel across sites in the Southeast region
