Senior Planner – Project Controls
Location: Scotland Department: Infrastructure, Project Controls Sectors: Energy, Defence, Rail, Airports, Highways, Water & Utilities

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Planner to join our Infrastructure Project Controls team in Scotland, where you’ll have the opportunity to drive impactful project outcomes.
As a key member of our Project Controls team, you will:
- Support high-visibility infrastructure projects by providing performance reporting and analysis, serving as a critical point of contact for clients or as part of larger collaboratives.
- Collaborate with cost and planning engineers to develop work breakdown structures and establish robust performance baselines.
- Implement progress and cost monitoring methodologies, generate project control reports, and deliver performance insights for stakeholder recommendations.
- Work across the energy, defence, rail, airports, highways, water, and utilities sectors, with our priority currently on defence projects.

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain effective planning frameworks and schedules aligned with project objectives.
- Apply expertise in programme controls management and earned value (EVM) analysis to deliver data-driven recommendations.
- Establish perfected change and risk management processes to mitigate project challenges.
- Use specialised tools (Oracle Primavera, MS Project, Excel, Prisma) to generate actionable project information.
- Provide clear, well-structured reporting to facilitate decision-making.
- Further SOX control responsibilities where relevant to projects.
Requirements
- Essential:
- Degree-educated, with direct experience in project controls within infrastructure (defence, rail, energy, etc.).
- Specialisation in at least one area: Programme Controls Management, Earned Value Management (EVM), Change & Risk Management, or Project Controls/PMO.
- Hands-on familiarity with primavera, MS Project, Excel, or Prism high-cost management systems.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.
- Rigorous attention to processes and governance with innovation to adapt to complex projects.
- Security Clearance (preferred but not mandatory) for defence sector projects.
