Wessex Water serves Dorset, Somerset and Bristol, as well as most of Wiltshire, and parts of Gloucestershire and Hampshire. Stretching across diverse landscape like the famous Jurassic Coast, the Mendip Hills, white cliffs of Dorset and Wiltshire’s Salisbury Plain, as well as the cities of Bath and Bristol, the company provides high-quality water services to 1.4 million customers and sewage services to 2.9 million customers.

We are seeking an experienced Planner to support delivery of a flagship £200m+ wastewater infrastructure programme within a long-term Tier 1 capital delivery framework in the water sector. The role will primarily work on a major Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW) upgrade programme at Poole while also providing support across the wider framework portfolio as required.

The Role Of a Construction Programme Planner Includes

Develop detailed construction programmes using planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) Monitor progress against baseline schedules and update regularly. Identifyrisks, delays, and opportunities, proposing mitigation strategies. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to align schedules with site activities. Produce progress reports, dashboards, and forecasts for senior management and clients. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project milestones. Support tender planning and bid submissions with realistic programme schedules. Maintain accurate records of programme changes and justifications.

What You’ll Need

Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (preferred). Experience in large-scale projects within the water sector Proven experience in programme planning within construction or infrastructure projects. Familiarity with NEC, JCT, or other standard forms of contract. Professional membership (e.g., APM, CIOB, ICE) is advantageous. Competency in the use of Primavera P6 and an interest in 4D planning Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, methodologies, and industry standards. Proficiency in planning software (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent). A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region
