Senior Planner – Build Division (Stratag UK)

About the Role
You will lead and manage all planning and programme control activities across pre-construction and project delivery phases, ensuring projects are planned, monitored, and delivered in alignment with:
- Contractual requirements
- Client expectations
- Company objectives
The Senior Planner will:
- Develop, maintain and manage detailed project programmes.
- Identify and mitigate risks.
- Provide strategic planning support to project teams and senior management.
- Promote best practice planning standards across the business.
- Enhance project delivery through effective programme management, stakeholder engagement, and performance reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Management & Planning
- Develop, maintain, and manage tender, pre-construction, and contract programmes using Asta Powerproject and/or Microsoft Project.
- Establish project baselines, perform critical path analysis, and set up programme reporting structures.
- Monitor project progress against programme, identify variances, delays, and opportunities.
- Produce recovery, mitigation, and acceleration programmes as needed.
- Lead programme review meetings with project teams, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

Risk & Compliance
- Coordinate planning activities across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Support project teams in identifying programme risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with company planning procedures, standards, and governance requirements.
- Promote collaborative planning techniques and continuous improvement across projects.
Strategic & Commercial Support
- Prepare weekly and monthly programme reports, dashboards, and progress updates.
- Analyse programme impacts from design changes, compensation events, variations, and commercial issues.
- Assist commercial teams with extension of time submissions, delay analysis, and contractual programme requirements.
Mentorship & Leadership
- Support bid and tender submissions with tender programmes, logistics plans, and phasing strategies.
- Mentor and support planners, graduate planners, and project teams in planning best practices.
- Provide strategic planning advice to Senior Planning Managers, Project Directors, Project Managers, and Commercial Managers.
- Support resource planning, cash flow forecasting, and project performance monitoring.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Strong understanding of NEC (New Engineering Contract) and JCT (forms of contract).
- Experience in programme management on projects exceeding £50m.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience leading planning workshops and programme reviews.
- Ability to carry out critical path, delay, and risk analysis.
- Proven experience in a Planning role within construction or civil engineering.
- Proven experience developing and managing programmes using Asta Powerproject.
- Experience producing tender, contract, and target programmes.
- Ability to conduct critical path analysis, programme reporting, and progress monitoring.
Desirable
- Experience working with Major Build, Infrastructure, or Tier 1 contractors.
- Forensic planning and delay analysis experience.
- Membership of CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) or ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers).
- Experience managing and mentoring junior planners.
- Experience undertaking delay analysis and programme assurance reviews.
- Experience in the Industrial and Logistics Sector.
