Senior Planner

Senior Planner
Location: On-site, Oldham Role: Full-time, leading project planning & programming across construction & development projects
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Construction
- Develop first-principles tender programmes, methodologies, and logistics strategies:
- Materials Lead-In
- Information Required Schedules
- Resource-loaded programmes
- Histograms
- Present planning proposals during client tender interviews.
Live Projects
- Maintain detailed construction master programmes, aligning with contract requirements (e.g., NEC or JCT formats).
- Regular site visits to:
- Audit progress
- Validate look-ahead programmes
- Integrate physical data into schedules.
- Supervise & mentor junior planners or trainee programme officers.

Commercial & Change Management
- Identify, track, & model impact of:
- Variations
- Compensation events
- Delays
- Conduct forensic schedule analysis for Extension of Time (EOT) claims, providing data-backed defence.
- Baseline all schedule revisions.
Qualifications & Experience
Software Skills
- Proficient in Asta Powerproject, with expertise in:
- Logic linking
- Critical path analysis
- Progress tracking
- Advanced Microsoft Excel:
- Data analysis
- Reporting
Industry Experience
- Construction sector experience preferably in:
- Civil engineering
- Concrete structures
- General contracting
- Preferred but not mandatory: Construction/Project Management degree.

- Estimation/commercial teams
- Site management
- Reporting to Contracts Director/Managing Director
- Experience in building contracting/land development preferred.
- Deep knowledge of:
- Construction sequencing
- Trade logistical workflows
- Technical savvy: translate complex information into realistic programmes.
Soft Skills
- Analytical & problem-solving: Devise & implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Attention to detail: Manage multiple projects/deadlines efficiently.
- Quality, safety, compliance: Alignment with industry standards and company policies.
- Contributing to tender submissions (baseline programmes, planning narratives) is highly beneficial.
