Role: Senior Planner

Location: Fareham, Hampshire, with travel across South Coast frameworks

Within the Environment Business Division (Water and Wastewater Non-Infrastructure Engineering and Construction), an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Planner to support the Southern Water Frameworks in the southeast region.

We welcome applications from experienced professionals who have successfully delivered projects of varying sizes, primarily within the water sector (including both wastewater and clean water treatment schemes). The role is ideally suited to someone based in the southeast, with the flexibility to travel across multiple sites and projects as required.


What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develop and manage project programmes across prequalification, tender, and delivery stages
  • Produce schedules using MSP and/or Primavera P6, including:
    • WBS (Work Breakdown Structure)
    • Milestones
    • Resource planning
  • Collaborate with bid teams, designers, subcontractors, and suppliers to optimise delivery programmes
  • Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities, including value engineering
  • Monitor progress using tools such as CPM (Critical Path Method) and Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Analyse performance against baseline schedules and update plans accordingly
  • Prepare reports, forecasts, and project planning outputs
  • Support change management and ensure alignment with project objectives

About You:

  • Experience in civil engineering sectors (e.g. water, highways, rail, aviation)
  • Track record in delivering large or multiple concurrent projects
  • Familiarity with planning tools (MSP / Primavera P6) and project control methods
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage schedules, dependencies, and project risks
  • Professional qualification (e.g. MCIOB, MRICS) or working towards one is desirable Relevant CSCS certification (as appropriate)
