Senior Planner – Major Engineering & Construction Programme
Derby (Hybrid / Smart Working Available)
Up to £75,000 plus package
Permanent
A leading engineering and construction organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join a high-profile major programme based in Derby. This is a key role responsible for driving project planning and controls throughout the full project lifecycle from construction delivery through to successful handover.
Working within a complex and secure environment, you will play a pivotal role in developing, managing, and integrating project schedules to support the successful delivery of a significant programme. You will work closely with project teams, stakeholders, and delivery partners to ensure effective planning, progress monitoring, and performance management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed NEC-compliant project schedules.
- Lead the integration of multiple project plans into a coordinated delivery programme.
- Provide robust planning support across construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and support effective mitigation strategies.
- Produce clear programme updates, reporting, and performance insights for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, commercial teams, and delivery partners.
- Provide leadership and guidance to planning team members.

About You:
You will be an experienced Senior Planner with a proven track record of delivering complex construction or engineering projects. You will have strong technical planning skills, excellent stakeholder management abilities, and the confidence to operate within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Essential Experience:
- Significant experience in a Senior Planner or Lead Planner role on major projects.
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts and project planning principles.
- Experience managing complex construction programmes from inception through to completion.
- Proficiency with planning software such as Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject.
- Strong communication, influencing, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
