Planner

📍 Location: Worcester or Warrington

💰 Competitive Salary + Excellent Benefits

We're looking for an experienced Senior Planner to join a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor, supporting the successful delivery of major projects from tender stage through to completion.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in planning, programming and project delivery while working alongside experienced project teams on high-profile infrastructure schemes.


The Role

As Planner, you'll work closely with the Planning Manager and Project Lead to develop, manage and maintain project programmes that keep projects on track from bid stage through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Tender Stage

  • Produce detailed tender programmes and supporting documentation
  • Develop construction methodologies, sequencing, and delivery strategies
  • Identify programme constraints, risks, and opportunities
  • Work closely with Estimators and operational teams to develop realistic project programmes
  • Carry out resource planning and levelling for labour, plant, and materials
  • Support value engineering and identify programme improvements
  • Prepare planning reports, presentations, and programme submissions

Project Delivery

  • Develop, manage, and update contract programmes throughout the project lifecycle
  • Produce monthly programme updates and progress reports
  • Lead collaborative planning sessions with project teams
  • Monitor project progress, productivity, and programme performance
  • Manage change control and recovery programmes
  • Analyze programme risks and productivity trends
  • Produce as-built programmes and programme dashboards
  • Support project teams to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Previous experience as a Senior Planner/Planner within construction or civil engineering
  • Strong knowledge of project planning and programming principles
  • Experience using industry-standard planning software (Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject or similar)
  • Good understanding of construction methods and sequencing
  • Knowledge of NEC and other construction contracts
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively with project teams and clients

Desirable:

  • Degree or HND in a relevant discipline
  • Professional membership (RICS, CIOB, ICE, CIBSE or similar)
