  • Grade: Grade 7
  • Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Location: Worthing Town Hall / hybrid

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Adur & Worthing Councils at the start of Local Plan making under the new planning system as councils prepare for local government reorganisation.

As Senior Planning Officer (Policy), you will:

  • Support the Principal Planning Policy Officer in leading key policy areas
  • Manage matrix work with other Council services
  • Advise on delivering strategic sites and shaping internal and external strategy for sustainable development that aligns with Council priorities
  • Combine research, evidence commissioning, stakeholder engagement, and project management to ensure the Local Plan delivers:
    • Legal compliance
    • Technical soundness
    • Deadline adherence
  • Represent the Council at public examination and appeals regarding strategic planning policy
  • Brief Council Members and Committees
  • Deputise for the Principal Planning Officer or Local Plan and Specialists Manager when required
