- Location: Worthing Town Hall / hybrid

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Adur & Worthing Councils at the start of Local Plan making under the new planning system as councils prepare for local government reorganisation.
As Senior Planning Officer (Policy), you will:
- Support the Principal Planning Policy Officer in leading key policy areas
- Manage matrix work with other Council services
- Advise on delivering strategic sites and shaping internal and external strategy for sustainable development that aligns with Council priorities
- Combine research, evidence commissioning, stakeholder engagement, and project management to ensure the Local Plan delivers:
- Legal compliance
- Technical soundness
- Deadline adherence
- Represent the Council at public examination and appeals regarding strategic planning policy
- Brief Council Members and Committees
- Deputise for the Principal Planning Officer or Local Plan and Specialists Manager when required

Key Responsibilities
The role demands significant professional experience as a town planner, ideally within:
- Public or private sector
- Planning policy environment, including:
- Local Plan preparation at various stages
