Senior Plant Engineer Role
**Hemiko are recruiting for a Senior Plant Engineer reporting to the Technical Manager.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering operation and maintenance services across our fleet of heat networks. We are looking for someone who is willing to work towards a valid commercial gas certificate, with experience in servicing and repairing commercial Plant equipment.
Experience maintaining and operating non-gas commercial plant, e.g., pumps, valves, and strainers, would be beneficial. The role will involve a variety of tasks, including:
- Mechanical planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Reactive call-outs
- Planned repairs
- Project work to improve reliability and network efficiency
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced engineer with at least 2 years of relevant experience working in Plant rooms (excess of 1MW), who upholds knowledgeability, reliability, and strong adaptability. This role contributes to Hemiko’s safe, supportive, and innovative work culture.

The Role
As a Senior Plant Engineer, your core key responsibilities include:
- Daily Operations:
- Perform PPMs for pumps, actuators, heat exchangers, pressurisation units, and degassers (following company schedules).
- Repair faults in commercial plant (pumps, pipework, valves).
- Attend reactive call-outs for on-site troubleshooting and reinstatement.
- Participate in the on-call rota (1 week in 4).

Maintenance & Administration:
- Root cause analysis for plant failures.
- Site-based project work & development of scope of works.
- Safe isolation procedures before maintenance.
- Basic faults diagnosis on heat interface units (HIUs).
- Water sampling & dosing on-site.

Development & Team Contribution:
- Mentor new engineers.
- Work autonomously (or provide technical support).
- Cover breakdowns nationwide (UK wide deployment).
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience & Knowledge
- 2+ years as a Commercial Plant Engineer (or equivalent).
- NVQ Level 3 qualification in Gas/Plumbing.
- Proficiency in:
- Reading P&IDs (Piping & Instrument Diagrams) & mechanical schematics.
- Basic electrical competency (safe isolation of both mechanical & electrical systems).
- Valid UK driver’s licence (12+ months).
