Senior Platform Engineer
Location: Manchester (Hybrid – 2-3 days onsite per week, with occasional UK client travel)
Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
Security Clearance: Must be eligible for BPSS and SC Security Clearance (5 years' continuous UK residency required)
The Opportunity

As part of a specialist engineering team, you'll work on complex digital transformation programmes, helping clients build, scale and operate secure, reliable cloud-native platforms. You'll combine hands-on engineering expertise with technical leadership, mentoring engineers and driving best practices across DevSecOps, automation and platform reliability.
The Role
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll design, build and support scalable cloud platforms while helping teams adopt modern engineering practices across development, security and operations.
You'll work across a variety of client environments, applying your expertise in cloud engineering, Infrastructure as Code, automation and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).

Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain secure, cloud-native platforms across AWS and/or Azure environments.
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform.
- Support DevSecOps practices, automation and continuous delivery pipelines.
- Apply SRE principles including SLIs, SLOs, resilience engineering and reliability improvements.
- Implement observability solutions including monitoring, dashboards, alerting and root-cause analysis.
- Support production environments through incident management, problem management and continuous improvement.
- Leverage AI-assisted engineering practices to improve delivery quality and automation.
- Act as a technical escalation point and mentor junior engineers.
- Influence engineering standards and best practices across teams.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for experienced Platform Engineers with a strong background in cloud engineering and DevSecOps.
You'll ideally have experience with:
- Strong hands-on experience building and supporting cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure).
- Proven experience with DevSecOps engineering and cloud-native technologies.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience, particularly Terraform.
- Practical understanding of SRE principles, including reliability, resilience and operational excellence.
- Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Dynatrace or similar tools.
- Experience supporting production systems, including incident and problem management.
- Understanding of automation and AIOps practices.
- Ability to mentor engineers and provide technical leadership.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
