Senior Platform Engineer – Driftrock
Driftrock is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to take ownership of the infrastructure and security that enables our engineering teams to ship fast, safely, and at scale as more of the world's biggest car brands join us.
Location & Pay
- Remote (UK or abroad with a few hours of daily UK overlap)
- Full-time, permanent
- Salary: £65,000 to £85,000, plus share options
- Start date: As soon as possible
About the Role
Driftrock runs entirely on Google Cloud, and our product is growing quickly as more clients trust us with their marketing. As we scale, we’re investing in a dedicated owner for our platform and security, ensuring our engineering squads can ship fast with strong foundations. You’ll define how we run, secure, and evolve our platform, and build the tooling and secure defaults that allow our product squads to ship confidently without reinventing infrastructure every time.
As Driftrock and our engineering team grow, this role will shape the foundation for a small platform team.
Our platform consists of:
- Multiple Elixir services (communicating via APIs and RabbitMQ)
- PostgreSQL & Redis for data storage
- Kubernetes (GKE) on Google Cloud
- Terraform for infrastructure-as-code
- Self-hosted Buildkite for CI/CD
- Oban for background jobs
Who You Are (Must-Have)
Ownership & Experience
- Deep, hands-on experience running production workloads on Google Cloud
- Strong Kubernetes (GKE) operations experience (clusters, workload patterns)
- Expertise in infrastructure-as-code, ideally Terraform
- Solid cloud security fundamentals (IAM, secrets management, network security)
- Experience owning and improving CI/CD pipelines

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
