Purpose Of Role
We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to strengthen our Azure-based cloud platform as Allica scales. This role involves:
- Designing, automating and maintaining a resilient multi-region Azure cloud infrastructure
- Embedding self-service capabilities for developers while ensuring end-to-end security and compliance
- Leveraging Azure DevOps, Terraform and Microsoft-native tools to implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Fostering cross-team collaboration to align architecture with cloud best practices (e.g., Azure Well-Architected Framework).
Principal Accountabilities
- Design & operation: Build, deploy, and manage secure, scalable multi-region cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure, including Windows/Linux environments.
- Managed hosting: Design and operate Azure Container Apps to run microservices and lightweight workloads.
- Networking administration: Configure and optimise Azure networking components—VNETs, NSGs, Load Balancers, Application Gateway, and Front Door. Implement Azure Firewall, API Management (APIM), Service Bus, and Event Grid.
- Offensive security: Safeguard infrastructure via Palo Alto Networks (cloud-enabled) and compliance frameworks tailored to financial services.
- Automation: Embed Terraform and Azure DevOps Pipelines to deliver IaC solutions that enforce governance, auditability, and compliance.
- Developer self-service: Design self-service templates/transformation that enable secure and independent deployments.
- Security, reliability & scalability: Apply Azure Well-Architected principles—reliability, performance, cost optimisation, and security—to all interventions.
- Team collaboration: Work with Security, Engineering, and Product teams to improve security, compliance, and scalability.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, IaC codebases, and automation flows.

Experience
Leveraged in this role (or similar):
- Microsoft Azure: Hands-on expertise in services (compute, networking, storage, AI), Pernicious Policies, and cloud governance. Critical absence: IaaS Faan Concentric/Power BI deployments <unnecessary edit—preserved original*
- Security: s Palo Alto Networks firewalls in Azure multi-region deployments, Panorama integration (centralised management of firewalls)
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Advanced proficiency in Terraform— including IaC architecture, state management, and drift detection.
- CI/CD & DevOps: Experience with Azure DevOps Pipelines/GitHub for branching and version control, including CI/CD workflows */
- System management: Skilled in supporting Windows and Linux containers in hybrid/cloud environments.
- Multi-region/Availability Design: Proven Track record in disaster recovery planning and high-resilience architectures. Minimises downtime through fail-over and migration strategies.
- Azure services:
- App Services (**Function/App Services”), Container Apps, Logic Apps, **API Management (APIM), Service Bus, and Event Grid.
- Azure Deep Dive: Private IP spaces, georedundancy, and USERD (Approved App Service IP whitelisting)
- Network ICV, Routing, Load balancing and Network Performance.
- Security within FinTech: Experience in risks and regulations—IT governance, data protection, cybersecurity and compliance requirements for financial trading in regulated environments”
- Analytical skills combined with the ability to receive feedback with communication capabilities, problem-solving and adaptability to diverse stakeholders. Demonstrates ability to break down unclear instructions to brainstorm viable solutions.
