Role: 13396 - Senior Play Worker Spring Oscars SCOT (Qualified)

Salary: £25,100.92 per annum

Contract/Hours: Permanent, Part-time – 31.25 hours per week

Location: Edinburgh (Oscars @ Pentland)

About Oscars

Come and work in a key role with the wonderful growing team at Oscars, where our new management team encourage and support progression on our career pathway.

We offer warm and friendly childcare for children aged 5 to 14 years. Many of our sites are located within the local primary schools fostering close links with the surrounding community.

Our aim is to provide quality out of school childcare to children. We offer play and educational opportunities in a safe welcoming environment focusing on the social and educational welfare of each child. We are proud of our highly qualified and dedicated team who are passionate about nurturing children and promoting their well-being.


Hours / Shifts

For a Full Time Play Worker, the hours would be Breakfast Club and After School Club, with flexible administration time to create your full working week. The club shifts are:

  • Breakfast Club - Monday to Friday from 7.15am to 9am
  • After School Club - Monday to Thursday from 2pm to 6pm, and Friday from 11.30am to 6pm

What you'll be doing

In the role of Senior Play Worker you'll be:

  • Given dedicated daily non-contact time for paperwork & planning exciting activities for our children.
  • Leading the staff within the room on providing learning programmes for individual or groups of children appropriate to their needs and developmental stages in accordance with Early Years legislation and guidance.
  • Ensuring a safe, caring, stimulating and fun environment for all children at the club.
  • Engaging effectively with the children during their time in the club.
  • Planning and taking part in play and leisure activities for children.
  • Assisting with the set up of the club so it's ready for when the children arrive and that any snacks or breakfasts are prepared in line with healthy-eating guidelines.

What we need from you

In the role of Senior Play Worker we're ideally looking for someone who has:

  • SCQF Level 7 (which is equivalent to SVQ Level 3) or HNC in Childcare and Education or a Playworker qualification.
  • First Aid qualification and Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or the ability to achieve.
  • A real passion to work with children, make a difference and help them thrive.
