Senior PMO Technical Systems Manager

**Senior PMO Technical Systems Manager – Full-Time, Fixed-Term (12 months, extendable) Role

Salary: up to £60,000 (depending on skills and experience) + excellent benefits package


About the Team

The Programme Management Office (PMO) serves a central function within our Programmes Directorate. We provide structure, support, and oversight to ensure projects remain on track, fostering consistency across programmes and projects.

As the hub for governance, delivery support, and performance reporting, the PMO drives successful outcomes while enabling our teams to deliver real impact.


About the Job

We seek a Senior PMO Technical Systems Manager to lead the development and continuous improvement of systems and tools that underpin enterprise-wide portfolio, programme, and project management.

This role bridges PMO governance with technology, ensuring:

  • The right digital capabilities are in place.
  • Robust data structures and reporting solutions empower informed decision-making.
  • Consistent, effective delivery across GWR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the PMO systems roadmap and implement PPM tools, integrating them with existing platforms such as:
    • BI/Power Platform
    • DocuSign
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for all PMO systems, championing:
    • Automation
    • Innovation
    • Emerging technologies (including AI)
  • Manage relationships with:
    • IT, translating requirements into system enhancements.
    • Finance, system users, and system suppliers.
  • Ensure alignment of systems with PMO governance, standards, and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain advanced BI dashboards, driving data quality initiatives to provide accurate, actionable insights.
  • Oversee system supplier relationships, including:
    • Weekly and periodic reviews of system development.
    • Performance and product backlog management.
    • Bug resolution.
  • Implement:
    • Robust access controls
    • Audit trails
    • Data retention policies in PMO systems.
  • Maintain and periodically review:
    • System documentation
    • Training materials
    • Support guides

  • Systems integration, data architecture, and automation.
  • Microsoft Planner (formerly Project for the Web).
  • Microsoft Dataverse, SharePoint, Power Automate/Flow or Dynamics 365, supporting:
    • Canvas app development
    • Model-driven app development
  • AI integration, including:
    • AI Builder
    • Copilot Studio (aligned with our long-term AI strategy).
  • Enterprise-level PMO systems, tools, or platforms management.
  • Implementing/optimising PPM tools and reporting environments.
  • Portfolio, programme, and project management disciplines.

What You’ll Bring

  • Power BI Data Analyst certification or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including:
    • Knowledge of VBA
    • Familiarity with SQL.
  • Data modelling with Power BI, including:
    • Intermediate DAX & Time Intelligence.
  • Microsoft Power Platform App Maker or equivalent.
  • API Design and Fundamentals or equivalent expertise.
  • (Desirable:) MS Certified in designing and implementing an Azure AI solution.
  • (Desirable:) PRINCE2 Foundation or equivalent qualification.
