Senior Power Electronics Engineer
Evolito’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of electric propulsion in aerospace applications in support of a net-zero world. We will help to revolutionise personal mobility and transform our towns and cities with clean, noise-free air transportation.
Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and General Aviation.
As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high-integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
About the Role
As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to design and develop power electronics for electric propulsion systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with stringent aerospace standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & development of high-voltage (>400V to 1kV) three-phase inverter systems for electric propulsion
- Undertake analysis of three-phase inverters, including:
- Dynamic switching characteristics
- Efficiency optimisation
- Thermal performance
- Design differential and common-mode filters for high-voltage applications
- Design failure detection and protection systems for high-voltage wide-bandgap devices
- Manage the complete lifecycle of electronics design, including:
- Analysis, schematic capture
- PCB layout, component selection
- Design verification
- Conduct formal design reviews, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and laboratory validation of power electronic systems
- Lead root-cause investigations of failures and define corrective actions, coordinating cross-functional teams and applying structured problem-solving methodologies
- Deliver technical reports and design documentation to support certification activities and regulatory approval
- Ensure adherence to Evolito’s internal standards as well as applicable aviation industry regulations
- Contribute to the advancement of departmental technologies, capabilities, facilities, and processes
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers within the team

Key Skills & Experience
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent industrial experience
- 7+ years of demonstrable experience in electronics design, preferably within aerospace, defense, or automotive industries
- Strong understanding and experience with:
- Wide-bandgap switching devices (SiC MOSFETs)
- Gate drive design & protection circuits
- EMC analysis including magnetic design for filters
- DC link filter design, including capacitor selection
- DC current ripple analysis and mitigation strategies
- Experience with Matlab/Simulink and LTspice
- Experience in modelling, simulation and analysis of power devices for inverter systems
- ECAD software proficiency, with essential expertise in Altium Designer
- Skills in design analysis, including:
- Worst-case error and tolerance analysis
- Thermal and component stress assessment
- Familiarity with Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacture (DFM)
- Hands-on experience in power electronics design verification and fault diagnosis

Nice-to-Have (Desirable)
- Experience with automotive-grade aerospace systems and high altitude operations
- Knowledge of FEMM simulation tools, such as Ansys Maxwell
- Experience with double pulse tests, MOSFET thermal path characterisation, and motor integration tests
- Experience in parameter validation of wideband-gap devices and test platforms
- Hands-on experience using lab equipment such as:
- Oscilloscope, function generator, impedance analyser
- Experience in developing products compliant with aerospace design and test standards, including:
- ARP4754A/DO254/DO160
