About the Role
This Senior Press Officer role focuses on the development and execution of Asda’s consumer PR plan, effectively communicating key launches of Asda’s products and services to demonstrate their commitment to quality and customer needs.
The role, reporting to the Head of George PR, will collaborate on exciting, integrated PR campaigns that complement or enhance Asda’s broader marketing communications plans. It also involves an “always-on” press office to support trade communications.
The ideal candidate has a passion for food and drink quality and innovation, alongside the ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external contacts to tell the Asda product story.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of PR in developing and implementing a PR activity calendar that effectively communicates key messages about George at Asda’s products and services across earned media, while aligning with Asda’s overall reputation and values.
- Assist with the production and staging of press events for key media.
- Closely manage the day-to-day operations of the PR agency, ensuring all activity is effectively briefed, developed, and executed in tandem with customer communications timelines and plans.
- Identify innovative approaches for measuring PR campaigns, pushing boundaries and challenging traditional thinking.
- Maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders to keep awareness high around new products and services.
- Use an understanding of social influencers to identify key brand ambassadors for campaigns.
- Occasionally provide on-call support for the PR team and wider business.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of PR experience, specialising in consumer PR—ideally with retail/food and drink background.
- Knowledge of the media landscape and how to engage with it effectively.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Confidence in identifying, developing, and implementing creative PR stories and campaigns that deliver meaningful results.

To balance collaboration and flexibility, Asda’s hybrid working model requires a minimum of 3 working days per week in an Asda Home Office. Some areas may also require occasional additional office days, store visits, supplier meetings, or depot assessments.
