As part of our continued growth and commitment to operational excellence, we are creating a new leadership opportunity for an experienced Lead Press Tool Setter to help shape the future of our press shop.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical expertise with responsibility for driving standards, developing people and improving manufacturing performance.
You'll work with a wide range of progression and single-operation mechanical presses, supporting high-volume automotive manufacturing in a fast-paced production environment.
Working closely with Production, Toolroom and Quality, you will become the technical lead for tool setting, helping to improve efficiency, reduce downtime and develop best practice across the department.

Key Responsibilities
- Set progression and single-operation press tools safely and efficiently.
- Carry out press tool changeovers while minimising downtime.
- Optimise press performance to maximise productivity and quality.
- Diagnose and resolve tooling and production issues.
- Lead, support and mentor the tool setting team.
- Train and develop setters to improve technical capability and consistency.
- Work closely with the Toolroom and Quality departments to resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Support TPM and preventative maintenance activities.
- Drive improvements in changeover times using continuous improvement and SMED principles where appropriate.
- Promote high standards of safety, housekeeping and quality throughout the press shop.
- Contribute ideas that improve productivity, efficiency and overall manufacturing performance.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Proven experience setting mechanical press tools within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience with progression tooling.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Positive, hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example.
- Good communication and team-working skills.

Desirable
- Automotive manufacturing experience.
- Previous team leader or supervisory experience.
- Experience reducing changeover times using SMED or other continuous improvement techniques.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM or Continuous Improvement.
