Senior Primary Care Nurse
About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Highpoint, a Category C Prison located in the village of Stradishall, Suffolk.
The Primary Care team consists of 15 members, including:
- Senior Primary Care Nurses
- Health Care Assistants
- Advanced Nurse Practitioners
- Non-Medical Prescribers
HMP Highpoint is split into 2 sites:
- North Building, housing around 390 males.
- South Building, housing around 950 males.
Both sites have designated Healthcare Departments where you will be based.

Working Hours and Conditions
Hours:
- Monday – Sunday service: 37.5 hours per week
- Hours: 7.45am – 18:15pm (no night shifts)
- Every other weekend and bank holiday included in the rota
- 4-week rolling rota
- Open to discuss lower hours
- Transport by car is recommended due to the prison's location
Salary
This is a full-time position:
- Annual salary of £43,609 – £49,175, depending on experience
Additional Benefits:

- Up to 4 weeks occupation sick pay

Responsibilities
As a Senior Primary Care Nurse, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions
- Undertaking medication rounds, dispensing controlled medication
- Responding to emergency situations, assessing patients, and taking part in reception screening
- Seeking out, listening to, and acting on patient feedback to ensure personalised care
- Delivering non-judgemental care that brings about a real difference
- Inspiring excellence through strong partnerships with stakeholders and reliable service delivery
- Evidence-based care and supporting continuous quality improvement
- Fostering strong multi-disciplinary teams for optimal performance

Qualifications & Skills Required
- Registered nurse (Adult)
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
- Understanding of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
- Non-judgmental and compassionate approach
- Excellent communication skills
Experience (Not Essential):
- Preference for candidates with experience in hospital, community, or prison environments.
