Senior/Principal & Associate Mechanical Engineers
Locations: London, Cambridge, Epsom, Peterborough, Bristol, Exeter, Cardiff, Swansea, Birmingham & Derby, UK
Hybrid (3 Days Onsite) | Permanent
Salary: £50,000 - £80,000 DOE
Our client, a globally recognised engineering consultancy to support the delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK.
We're looking for experienced Senior / Principal / Associate Mechanical Engineers with strong expertise in the Water sector, mechanical design delivery, and multidisciplinary project environments. Candidates should have experience with pumps, blowers, screens, chemical dosing systems, and a solid understanding of UK design standards, CDM, and DSEAR.
Senior Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities
- Deliver and coordinate mechanical design work for water and wastewater projects.
- Produce and review technical deliverables including reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Support project delivery, ensuring milestones, budgets, and quality standards are achieved.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

Principal Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering design delivery on complex multidisciplinary projects.
- Manage technical outputs and provide specialist engineering guidance.
- Support bid proposals and client-facing technical activities.
- Drive quality assurance and compliance with industry standards.
- Mentor and develop less experienced engineers while supporting team growth.
Associate Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities
- Lead Mechanical Engineering teams delivering large-scale water infrastructure projects.
- Oversee project design deliverables, programme management, and budget performance.
- Review and approve technical reports, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work.
- Provide technical leadership, drive best practices, and support business growth initiatives.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and contribute to technical bid submissions.

Key Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (Associate level must be Chartered).
- Experience delivering water infrastructure projects.
- Strong technical design and stakeholder management skills.
- Leadership experience for Principal and Associate-level roles.
