About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Principal HVAC Engineer to take a pivotal role in supporting technical requirements, engineering, and mentorship within Assystem’s projects. This position demands deep technical expertise and the ability to guide junior engineers while ensuring high standards of precision and compliance.
Key Responsibilities

🛠️ Support Requirements Capture:
- Manage and challenge requirements for existing waste containers and interface equipment

📋 Assist Engineering Activities:
- Work collaboratively under the direction of the Engineering Manager

🤝 Mentorship & Guidance:
- Provide technical assurance and mentorship to Senior Engineers and Designers

📐 Define Engineering Requirements:
- Assist in establishing and refining product requirements

🔧 Tolerances & Interface Clarification:
- Guide understanding of tolerances on interface drawings

📝 Documentation & Reports:
- Compile Component Requirements Documents
- Produce and review survey reports (site surveys included)

⚙️ FMEA Support:
- Assist with Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)

📑 Drawing Review:
- Verify accuracy of technical drawings and documentation

🔄 Apply Lessons Learned:
- Identify and implement Lessons Learned from Experience (LFE) in technical tasks
Required Qualifications & Experience

🎓 Education:
- Minimum Higher National Certificate (HNC) qualification

💡 Technical & Innovation Skills:
- High-level technical proficiency with a track record of innovation and idea development

🗂️ Project Documentation:
- Extensive experience in preparing technical documentation, processes, and reports

🤝 Stakeholder Management:
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage stakeholders and collaborate across teams

🔩 Engineering Depth:
- Specialised knowledge in design, manufacture, material selection, welding, fabrication, and machining techniques

🛡️ FMEA Expertise:
- Familiarity with Process and Design (DFMEA/PFMEA) Failure Mode and Effects Analysis

Additional Requirements
Candidates must be eligible to undertake work within the UK under security and export control restrictions, which may impact eligibility based on nationality, previous nationalities held, or place of birth.
Essential Experience:
- ⚛️ Nuclear Sector: Proven experience operating in nuclear sector projects
- 💻 CAD Proficiency: Practical experience with Inventor (CAD software)
- 🛠️ Nuclear Design: Experience in nuclear design (e.g., mechanical handling)
