About The Role
Technical Advisory: Energy Systems (UK & Ireland)
A newly established department combining expertise in Projects, Engineering, and Integrity to deliver better service quality for our Energy Systems customers.
Project Advisory Section: Key Responsibilities
- Supports customers across the full project lifecycle, delivering:
- CAPEX services (e.g., Owners Engineering).
- Operational Services (e.g., life management, repowering options, decommissioning studies, inspections).
- Expands and evolves services to align with market trends and emerging opportunities, requiring:
- Strong commercial mindset.
- Cross-team collaboration across garegional capabilities.
- Teams focus on specific project phases but must collaborate flexibly to ensure success.
- Operates across multi-technology assets, catering to diverse technical backgrounds.
Global & Regional Focus
- Primary market: UK & Ireland (key hubs: Bristol, London, Glasgow, Dublin).
- Frequent collaboration with global colleagues to deliver critical projects worldwide.

What You Would Be Doing
As a Project Advisory Engineer, you’ll work across projects in solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and wind, as well as other technologies. Your responsibilities include:
- Leading customer engagements, identifying challenges, and proposing technical solutions.
- Collaborating with expert teams to implement agreed-upon strategies—this could include:
- Conducting technical studies.
- Assessing project risks.
- Representing DNV at site during construction and commissioning.
- Operating across diverse technologies and project lifecycle phases.
If you’re appointed as a Senior/Principal Solar Engineer, you will also:
- Manage larger projects and bids.
- Project manage your engagements alongside contributing technical expertise to other projects covering:
- Multiple technologies.
- Regional operations.
- Mentor and coach team members.
- Travel globally (majority UK & Ireland, occasional international assignments).

About You
We seek a Senior/Principal Solar Engineer with a diverse background, balancing specific expertise with adaptability. Key traits include:
Technical & Practical Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of PV systems, applications, and UK transmission/distribution networks.
- Advanced experience in one or more areas:
- Owners Engineering or consultancy activities.
- Solar PV, energy storage (BESS), or renewables asset development/operations.
- Holding a science or engineering degree with a strong electrical engineering focus.
Soft Skills & Attributes
- Curious mindset, proactive in embracing innovative solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, adept at explaining findings clearly.
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building professional relationships based on trust.
