# Senior or Principal Sustainability Consultant – Building Certification (UK)
Turner & Townsend, the global professional services company with over 22,000 employees across 60+ countries, is leading efforts to transform the built environment through programme, project, and cost management. In partnership with CBRE Group, Inc., Turner & Townsend delivers premier sustainability services, shaping Net Zero frameworks and environmental resilience strategies.
We are expanding our UK-based Sustainability team to meet rising demand from public and private sector clients. Join us as a Senior or Principal Sustainability Consultant, specialising in building certification, to drive our rapidly growing sector and pioneer sustainable development solutions.
## About the Role

In this high-visibility position, you will:
- Lead UK and international sustainability projects, leveraging expertise in global Net Zero frameworks.
- Support business growth by refining our market positioning in building certification consulting.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to design, model, and deliver high-impact sustainability strategies for diverse projects.
- Expand team capabilities and ensure exceptional project execution.
## Key Responsibilities
Client & Project Leadership
- Lead and manage building certification projects, including BREEAM, WELL, and other local/green certification standards.
- Guide clients in setting decarbonisation targets and providing strategies for practical, measurable pathways.
- Support strategic sustainability advice in early design phases and awesome certification audit processes.

Technical Delivery
- Prepare tenders, proposals, and detailed technical reports for certification bodies and stakeholders.
- Undertake data analysis to identify energy-saving and decarbonisation opportunities, presenting findings clearly and robustly.
- Proactively recommend low-carbon design solutions to clients, architects, and contractors.
Team & Business Growth
- Mentor and develop junior consultants, and support senior team members in high-value commercial engagements.
- Contribute to internal quality assurance (including potential SOX control responsibilities).
- Engage with client and stakeholder communication, presenting technical insights in accessible ways.
- Collaborate on expanding business development, contributing to marketing and proposal development.
## Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in engineering, architecture, building services, or a related sustainability discipline.
- Licensed BREEAM Assessor (or equivalent regional certification).
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in sustainability consulting, with a focus on building certification and real estate decarbonisation.
- Profound knowledge of BREEAM, WELL, green building standards, and LEED methodologies.
- Experience seriously assessing carbon footprints, related to Whole Life Carbon reports and GHG disclosures.
- Demonstrated track record in delivering high-quality certification projects for real estate and infrastructure clients.
- Clear financial or commercial awareness (e.g., evaluating investment opportunities, proposal writing, marketing implications).
