Senior / Principal Town Planner

Senior or Principal Town Planner

West Midlands Salary: DOE

Our client is a well-established independent planning consultancy renowned for delivering high-quality planning advice across a diverse range of development projects, including residential, commercial, retail, and strategic land schemes—from large-scale regeneration projects to bespoke heritage developments.

The team provides a full planning consultancy service, covering:

  • Site appraisals
  • Planning strategy
  • Feasibility advice
  • Design input
  • Local plan representations

Requirements

  • MRTPI accreditation, with strong private sector experience and in-depth knowledge of local authority planning processes.
  • Proven ability to manage complex planning applications, including:
    • Outline
    • Full submissions
    • Reserved matters
  • Significant experience preparing high-quality planning statements, Statements of Community Involvement, and other supporting documentation with minimal supervision.
  • Expert understanding of development management and local plan processes, with capability to:
    • Conduct site appraisals
    • Provide strategic planning advice
  • Experience representing planning proposals at planning committees and managing planning appeals, including hearings and public inquiries.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative planning strategies.
  • A commitment to mentoring and supporting junior colleagues.
