PCB Design Engineer – HDI, High-Speed & RF Multilayer PCB Design

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a PCB Design Engineer to join a pioneering engineering team developing cutting-edge technology at the forefront of quantum computing, advanced imaging and surveillance detection systems at a £100,000+ salary and one of the best packages on the market.

Working on highly classified programmes, you'll play a key role in the design and delivery of complex HDI, high-speed and RF multilayer PCBs that enable next-generation sensing, signal processing and compute platforms. This is a genuinely unique opportunity to work on technology that pushes the boundaries of what's possible, alongside some of the UK's leading hardware and electronics engineers.

This role is fully onsite, providing close collaboration with multidisciplinary electronics, FPGA, RF, embedded software and systems engineering teams throughout the complete product development lifecycle.

The Role

We're looking for a PCB Design Engineer who enjoys solving complex layout challenges and takes ownership of designs from concept through to manufacture. You'll be responsible for delivering technically demanding PCB layouts where signal integrity, manufacturability, thermal performance and physical constraints are all critical.

Projects will involve a mix of HDI multilayer digital designs, high-speed interfaces, RF circuitry, power electronics and mixed-signal hardware, requiring close interaction with hardware, RF and systems engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own PCB layout from initial requirements through to manufacturing release.
  • Design complex HDI multilayer PCBs (8–12+ layers) incorporating high-speed digital, RF and mixed-signal circuitry.
  • Develop highly constrained layouts using:
    • Microvias and stacked microvias
    • Blind/buried vias
    • Fine-pitch BGAs
    • Non-soldermask-defined (NSMD) pads
    • High-density interconnect techniques
  • Produce impedance-controlled routing including:
    • Differential pairs
    • Length matching
    • Controlled impedance traces
    • Coplanar waveguide
    • Microstrip transmission lines
  • Design RF layouts supporting GHz-frequency operation with careful attention to transmission-line performance, grounding and transitions.
  • Create and maintain PCB design rules, constraints and clearance requirements, including complex rule management.
  • Work closely with hardware engineers to convert schematics into robust production-ready PCB designs, while also contributing to schematic capture where required.
  • Optimise layouts for EMC, signal integrity, thermal performance and manufacturability.
  • Support prototype build, PCB bring-up, testing and design iterations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
