About The Energy Business Unit

The Energy unit delivers global engineering and project management services across multiple sectors including:

  • Hydropower
  • Nuclear
  • Waste management
  • Renewable generation
  • Transmission & distribution networks

Overview Of The Role

Are you a technical problem-solver who thrives in client-facing environments? Do you want a career where autonomy, progression, and diverse challenges define your growth? Our fast-growing Nuclear: Defence and Civil division is seeking a Senior Process Engineer—a role that balances technical rigour, multi-disciplinary collaboration, and direct client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead our front-end engineering designs, covering feasibility to detailed design phases.
  • Deliver client solutions by aligning technical and commercial needs across nuclear decommissioning, defence, and energy/infrastructure projects.
  • Produce design documentation and technical deliverables, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Conduct site visits and actively work to expand client relationships.
  • Attract new opportunities by advocating for Mott MacDonald’s tailored solutions.

Candidate Specification

Essential

  • Chartered status (preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered).
  • Accreditation with the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) or comparable body.
  • Technical chemical/process engineering expertise, with a focus on:
    • Process design (proven competence)
    • Quality assurance (via checklists, surveillance, and reviews)
  • Strong communication skills and commercial awareness of FEED (Front-End Engineering & Design) projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to evolving project needs, and promote inter-disciplinary collaboration (integrating input from engineers, specialties, facilities, and project teams).
  • Proactive approach to solutions development—balancing technical excellence with feasibility for clients.
