H9 Talent Solutions are partnered with a leading technology supplier who are looking to engage with an experienced Senior Process Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design and delivery of Flue Gas Treatment systems for major industrial, biomass, and Energy-from-Waste (EfW) projects.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing engineering team, supporting projects from initial concept and tender stage through detailed design, commissioning, and operational support. The successful candidate will act as the technical authority for FGT process engineering, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams while mentoring junior engineers and driving continuous improvement in engineering standards and best practices.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead the process engineering design of Flue Gas Treatment (FGT) systems for industrial combustion, biomass and Energy-from-Waste facilities.
- Support engineering activities throughout the full project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, proposals, detailed design, commissioning and operational support.
- Produce, review and approve:
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Process calculations
- Equipment sizing
- Technical specifications
- Equipment datasheets
- Provide technical support during tendering activities, customer meetings and technical bid evaluations.
- Work closely with Procurement to review supplier quotations, evaluate technical compliance and approve vendor documentation.
- Participate in HAZOP studies, design reviews, safety assessments and technical risk evaluations.
- Provide technical support during commissioning, performance testing and plant optimisation.
- Troubleshoot operational process issues and identify opportunities to improve plant efficiency and emissions performance.
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Piping, Boiler, EC&I, Procurement and Project Management teams to ensure integrated engineering solutions.
- Develop and improve engineering standards, design procedures, calculation tools and technical documentation.
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineers within the process engineering team.

Experience & Qualifications

- Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Ideally 10 years' experience within industrial process engineering.
- Experience working on Flue Gas Treatment (FGT) systems or industrial air pollution control technologies.
- Demonstrable experience delivering engineering projects from concept design through commissioning.
- Strong understanding of industrial combustion processes and emissions control systems.
- Experience producing engineering calculations, process documentation and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of applicable environmental legislation and emissions compliance standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Willingness to travel internationally when required.
