The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Process Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy supporting major infrastructure and industrial projects. Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you will contribute to the development, assessment and delivery of process design solutions across a varied project portfolio.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

  • Lead the development, review and optimisation of process engineering designs, ensuring technical solutions are safe, practical and aligned with project objectives
  • Produce, verify and update a range of process engineering deliverables, including process flow diagrams, process descriptions, design calculations, equipment assessments, control philosophies and supporting technical documentation
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, operations personnel, commissioning teams and safety specialists to deliver integrated engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle
  • Gather technical information, evaluate design options and provide engineering recommendations to support concept development, feasibility studies and detailed design activities
  • Participate in process safety activities, including hazard studies and design reviews, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory, quality and safety requirements
  • Present designs and technical proposals at assurance reviews, technical committees, safety meetings and stakeholder workshops, incorporating feedback to achieve successful project outcomes
  • Track and communicate progress against project milestones, providing regular technical updates to engineering leadership and project management teams
  • Support the development of safety substantiation and engineering justifications within a highly regulated environment, contributing to the delivery of robust and compliant design solutions.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

  • Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering process engineering design work on complex industrial or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of process engineering deliverables, including design calculations, process documentation and equipment assessments.
  • Experience participating in safety studies such as HAZOPs and working within highly regulated environments.
  • Excellent communication, technical reporting and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively to project timescales.
