Senior Procurement Category Manager – Commercial Indirect

STADA UK Thornton & Ross | Reading, UK | Full-time | Permanent

As part of STADA UK Thornton & Ross' exciting growth journey, we are seeking a Senior Procurement Category Manager – Commercial Indirect to drive excellence in end-to-end procurement for indirect spend categories. You will contribute to our mission by leveraging commercial expertise, strategic sourcing, and digital transformation to deliver measurable cost savings, supplier partnership growth, and operational efficiency.


How You Will Make an Impact

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Develop and execute local category strategies aligned with global programmes and broader business goals.
  • Lead end-to-end procurement activities, including:
    • Tender management
    • Supplier selection and negotiation
    • Contract awards and supplier onboarding
  • Achieve cost savings, value creation, and total cost of ownership (TCO) optimisation across indirect spend.
  • Ensure full compliance with internal governance, procurement policies, and regulatory frameworks.

Supplier & Contract Management

  • Build and maintain strategic supplier partnerships promoting innovation, service excellence, and long-term value.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, contracts, and SLAs for optimal commercial results.
  • Monitor supplier performance, compliance, and risk through regular reviews and KPI tracking.
  • Mitigate cost fluctuations via effective negotiation strategies.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a trusted procurement advisor to diverse business functions.
  • Provide data-driven insights and commercial guidance to support stakeholders.
  • Influence among broader teams while maintaining constructive commercial dialogue.

Commercial & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyse spend data and market trends to drive opportunities, efficiencies, and innovation.
  • Adopt a proactive improvement mindset to embed procurement best practices company-wide.
  • Support sustainability and ESG goals in alignment with our Corporate Responsibility initiatives.
  • Standardise procurement processes, tools, and workflows for scalability and consistency.

Digital & AI-Enabled Transformation

  • Champion data-led and AI-augmented procurement for better visibility, efficiency, and decision-making.
  • Develop procurement dashboards and reporting to align with business strategies.
  • Collaborate on digitalisation projects aimed at automation and ROI-driven optimisation.

What We’re Looking For

We celebrate Uniqueness and empower teams to innovate. We seek a candidate who embodies our core values and possesses the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent professional experience).
  • CIPS certification (or actively pursuing qualification).
  • Significant experience in procurement within:
    • Pharmaceutical, healthcare, FMCG industries, or regulated commercial sectors.
  • Proven track record in end-to-end procurement and category management, including:
    • Global, matrix, or multi-functional organisations.
    • Complex supplier negotiations and contract lifecycle management.
    • Advanced spend analytics, systems, and digital tools.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with influence over senior leaders.
  • Robust analytical reasoning to translate data into strategic insights.
  • Practical, solutions-oriented approach with a growth mindset.
  • Influence and executive communication to engage across levels.
