About The Opportunity

Commercial Services is an integral part of the Enabling Services Directorate at Staffordshire Police, and their purpose is to ensure our operational colleagues are supported with the correct tools to be able to deliver their critical jobs. The Commercial Services department currently consists of a team of colleagues working across Procurement, Purchasing, Insurance, and Sustainability.

There is currently an exciting new role within our Commercial Services Team, as a Senior Procurement Officer.

This is a fantastic opportunity where you will work within a shared services Procurement Team who are responsible for delivery of Procurement Services to Staffordshire Police, Staffordshire Fire & Rescue, and the Staffordshire Commissioner’s Office. Alongside nine other Procurement and Commercial specialists, you will be accountable for a Procurement Apprentice, within the team of Procurement Officers, to ensure delivery of a robust and strategic approach for negotiating contracts, ensuring compliance is delivered with all procurement activity, and formulating procurement strategies. You will be regarded as a trusted commercial expert offering your expertise for both strategic and transactional procurement. You’ll work closely with colleagues at all levels, attend key boards, and ensure that value for money is achieved, but also keep all organizations compliant with all contractual work against public sector procurement legislation.

Contract performance management of key and significant contracts will also form part of the role, through participation in Supplier meetings, to demonstrate value for money throughout the contract lifecycle.

Coaching and supporting the Procurement Officers will be pivotal in the role; an individual who can support the Procurement Managers to get the best out of people will be the key to success.

In return, you will work with a supportive and energetic team who will offer shared knowledge and peer support, demonstrating fantastic teamwork! You will report to the Senior Commercial Business Partner, who will support and guide you to ensure you are at your most able to deliver the full role. The team approach is one of working together in a flexible and agile way to deliver results. With our overall objective being to provide commercial excellence delivering contracts that offer value for money, are fit for purpose, and successfully meet the needs of the organizations.
