Procurement Professional – Construction Major Projects
Location: Barrow-In-Furness/Preston. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements available – discuss options with your recruiter.
Salary: Circa £43,000 (dependent on experience)

Job Description
As part of this Procurement Professional – Construction Major Projects role, you will:
- Support procurement and commercial activities across construction and infrastructure projects, including a £10-year investment programme.
- Work closely with project teams to refine procurement strategies, balancing cost, risk, programme requirements, and buildability while maximizing supply chain value.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Managing tendering, commercial evaluations, and supplier engagement to deliver construction packages successfully.
- Aligning procurement activities with project timelines and stakeholder requirements.

Core Duties
- Support the full procurement cycle for construction and civil work packages.
- Facilitate market engagement, tender evaluations, and contract awards (including NEC/JCT frameworks).
- Collaborate with project teams to optimize procurement against delivery schedules.
- Evaluate tender submissions for:
- Pricing accuracy
- Scope fidelity
- Commercial viability
- Foster stakeholder relationships, ensuring suppliers and contractors adhere to project needs.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities within procurement frameworks.
- Drive cost-focused discussions, including value engineering and budget oversight.
- Maintain procurement documentation and compliance with governance standards.
Essential Skills
- Experience in construction, infrastructure, or project-based environments (preferably with commercial/supply chain exposure).
- Familiarity with industry-standard contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT) applied to project environments.
- Understanding of commercial, cost/procurement principles and how they align with project success.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, collaborative workspace environments.
