Senior Product Cost Engineer
Location: Clevedon, North Somerset
Salary: Up to £52,000 per annum + Bonus
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Hybrid

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Cost Engineer to drive cost reduction and value engineering improvements across advanced products and components.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on identifying cost-saving opportunities, delivering design improvements, and implementing engineering changes while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, performance, and compliance.
Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and suppliers, you'll take ownership of cost reduction projects from concept through validation and production implementation.

Key Responsibilities
- Identify and deliver engineering changes that reduce product and component costs.
- Lead value engineering initiatives across mechanical and electrical assemblies.
- Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials.
- Design, modify, and release engineering changes to improve product cost and manufacturability.
- Validate alternative components through testing, trials, and analysis.
- Work with Manufacturing and suppliers to successfully implement engineering changes.
- Manage engineering risks while maintaining product reliability, quality, and compliance.
- Support continuous improvement and best practice across engineering and manufacturing teams.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Product Cost, Value Engineering, or Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in delivering practical engineering improvements.
You'll ideally have:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Experience delivering engineering design changes within a manufacturing or product development environment.
- Experience implementing value engineering or cost reduction projects.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical components.
- Experience producing CAD models, drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances, and supplier capabilities.
- Experience validating engineering changes through testing and trials.
- Strong understanding of engineering risk, quality, and compliance.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and suppliers.
