Senior Product Designer

Reporting To: Head of Design Location: Remote - with occasional travel to Bournemouth Job Type: Full Time 37.5 hours a week

About the Job

As a Senior Product Designer at Nourish, you’ll be advocating for our end users through practical design thinking and Lean UX, collaborating closely with your counterparts in Product and Engineering to create and enhance user-centric products. You will be responsible for designing intuitive, accessible and engaging user experiences, ensuring that our products not only meet user needs, but also provide a delightful experience.

The UX/Product Design team at Nourish celebrates a balance of design thinking, research acumen, information architecture and technical knowledge to create products that are useable – functional, simple, and intuitive - at scale.

The Role and Your Responsibilities

You’ll join the Product Design team as an expert who takes ownership of:

  • Design System Development (critical for this role): Contributes to our new design system as part of overall impact, ensuring consistency across Nourish products and standards. Requires a strong design system background with experience in building components in Figma (including logic, states and variants etc.), accessibility, and governance. Must understand technical implementation and be involved in its day-to-day development as the system is in its early stages.
  • User Research: Conducts user research in alignment with our UXR to understand user needs, behaviours and pain points. Utilises methods such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and analyses insights to form actionable takeaways.
  • Design & Prototyping: Creates wireframes, user flows and other design assets to effectively communicate design ideas. Develops high-fidelity prototypes to illustrate design concepts and user interactions. Collaborates with Product Manager and Lead Developer from initial discovery through to iteration, ensuring feasibility, value and best-in-class standards of our design solutions.
  • User Testing: Plans and conducts usability testing sessions to gather feedback on design prototypes. Analyses user feedback and metrics to iterate on and improve the design. Presents findings and suggestions to both commercial and technical stakeholders.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Works closely with Product Managers to align on user needs, product goals, and business objectives. Partners with Lead Developers to ensure the design is implemented accurately and effectively. Facilitates design discussions and workshops to foster a shared understanding of user-centric principles within the team.
  • Documentation: Documents design processes, decisions, and guidelines to ensure continuity and clarity. Creates detailed design specifications and handoff documents for development.

What Else Are We Looking For?

Proven experience in UX Product Design with some senior experience, preferably within a collaborative, cross-functional team structure in a SaaS B2B environment.

Alongside this:

  • Sub Disciplines: Experience across more than one sub-discipline of interaction design, information architecture, research, visual or UI design is highly desirable.
  • Design Tool Fluency: Proficiency in Figma, other design tool experience is a bonus.
  • Design Principles: Strong foundation in user-centred design principles including WCAG accessibility standards and designing for inclusivity. Comprehensive experience of designing for both web and mobile applications delivering a unified user journey.
  • Research Methodologies: Skilled in various user research methods (e.g., interviews, surveys, usability testing). Ability to analyse research insights and translate findings into actionable design improvements.
  • Agile Methodologies: Embraces an iterative process that allows for continuous improvement in both design development and the collaborative process. Experience working within Agile / Scrum frameworks with the ability to adapt to evolving project needs is an advantage.
