About Quantum Base
Quantum Base has invented the Quantum-ID (Q-ID), a world leading technology solution that stops counterfeits. Our smartphone app (and SDK) verifies the authenticity of Q-IDs in just a few seconds using a very simple scan. We are the only smartphone authentication solution that is fundamentally 100% secure - and we achieve this using quantum physics. We are starting with security printing and brand protection, but the use cases are vast. Quantum Base has 41 patents and was founded by Professor Robert Young at Lancaster University. Our mission is to create a new global standard.
About the Role
We are looking for a contract Senior Product Designer to level up the user experience and user interface of our mobile app. Our app is deceptively simple, but the interface between digital and the physical isn’t straightforward. Our perfect candidate will know this, perhaps from working with scanning apps, augmented reality, KYC or identity checks.
While a scan only takes 3 seconds, our goal is to make the scanning experience so easy that it feels as familiar as a QR code scan, hiding all the complexity of the dozens of security checks that are being conducted under the hood. Your first job will be to sharpen and polish our UI, test new approaches to the UX and improve the experience for first time users. The simpler and easier the scanning process is, the more use cases we can target and the faster we can achieve our mission of changing the way the world checks if things are real.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is a high-impact, hands-on role working closely with our software engineers, scientists, commercial team and the CEO. You will take ownership of the end-to-end design process — from understanding user problems, through ideation and prototyping, to shipping polished, intuitive mobile experiences. You’ll be an expert at rapid iterations, working very closely with developers, and able to leverage the latest AI tools, to design, build and test ideas within hours rather than days or weeks.
This role is based out of our London office on Old St, near Old St tube station, with occasional travel to Lancaster (2h20m from Euston) to work with our software and science team. Our Lancaster Lab includes our device lab with over 200 mobile devices for testing. (This role can also be Lancaster based).
