Job Title
Are you a seasoned software engineer who thrives on building robust telemetry server applications and delivering technical excellence across the full product lifecycle? Then join us in our mission to pioneer smarter solutions for moving and transforming water, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing quality of life for people.
As our new Senior Product Development Engineer, you will be developing and maintaining telemetry server applications across the full product lifecycle—from design and coding through deployment, testing, and customer support—within our SaaS platform, while mentoring team members and serving as a go-to technical escalation point for production and customer-impacting incidents.
The role is based at the Grundfos Millfield office in Surrey, UK.
What You Will Be Doing
As a key part of the MTS Product Software team, you'll create impact by delivering features and fixes to the software and ensuring the quality, reliability, and evolution of mission-critical telemetry platforms that power real-world monitoring solutions for customers worldwide.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Deliver high-quality, peer-reviewed, and automated-test-covered changes on time and aligned with the release calendar
- Act as a technical escalation point for significant production and customer-impacting incidents, performing root cause analysis and tracking preventative actions
- Raise engineering quality through effective code reviews, testing practices, documentation, and mentoring of team members and contractors
- Investigate and resolve complex system issues across Canvas, Master Control, and customer-facing environments via the ticketing process
- Contribute to design reviews and continuously improve team practices and operational readiness including monitoring and alerting

What Makes You a Great Fit
Above all, you are a technically strong and quality-driven engineer with deep expertise in C/C++, Java, and server-side development, combined with strong DevOps skills and a genuine passion for mentoring others and owning products end-to-end. We would also imagine that you have:
- Strong professional experience in C/C++, Java, SQL, and developing REST APIs with PostgreSQL-backed server applications
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns
- Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, and Linux environments including bash scripting and services (FTP, NTP, email)
- Experience with Agile/SCRUM methods and producing technical documentation including design statements, test plans, and user guides
- Familiarity with Python, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Working knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, IoT Core, and Lambda
