About the Role
Moog Aircraft Group, Tewkesbury, is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to play a key technical role in developing, qualifying, and certifying advanced aerospace components for some of the world’s most demanding military and commercial aircraft programmes.
In this position, you will:
- Lead end-to-end engineering activities, from concept through certification.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver innovative solutions.
- Combine technical leadership, hands-on engineering, and programme delivery.
- Contribute to shaping the future of aerospace with high-impact, safety-critical hardware.
- Utilise top-tier facilities, including:
- State-of-the-art CAD, CFD, and FEA tools.
- Advanced simulation and HPC resources.
- Rapid prototyping & additive manufacturing.
- Bespoke in-house testing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Product Development Engineer, you will take technical ownership across the product lifecycle, including:
- Leading engineering efforts from concept through detailed design, validation, qualification, and certification.
- Translating customer requirements into compliant, robust engineering solutions, compliance strategies, and validation plans.
- Developing high-performance electrohydraulic aerospace components in a highly regulated environment.
- Planning, coordinating, and executing technical activities to meet programme objectives, schedules, and budgets.
- Resolving complex engineering challenges through technical investigations and problem-solving.
- Conducting development and qualification testing, including:
- Fatigue, vibration, thermal, pressure, and performance certification.
- Collaboration with manufacturing, quality, test, programme management, and supply chain teams.
- Driving design reviews and trade studies to support decision-making in aerospace development.
- Mentoring junior engineers and influencing technical directions through customer engagements and reviews.
- Ensuring airworthiness and regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

Practical Details
- Location: Onsite, Tewkesbury, GBR.
- Reporting To: Engineer Senior, Project.
- Security: BPSS clearance must be maintained for eligibility (ref: GOV.UK).
Essential Requirements
- Degree-qualified in:
- Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of aerospace experience, preferably in system-level design and qualification.
- Led technical activities through a structured product development lifecycle (from concept to certification).
- Deep understanding of:
- Verification, validation plans, and aerospace compliance frameworks.
- Translating customer needs into practical, compliant engineering solutions.
- Exceptional communication (technical + stakeholder management).
- Proven skills in troubleshooting complex systems and correlating test data to design improvements.
- Comfortable working in strictly regulated environments (airworthiness, military standards, etc.).

Desirable Qualifications
- Familiarity with EASA Part 21 and related airworthiness rules.
- Experienced with hydraulic/electrohydraulic mechanisms in aerospace.
- Knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) or similar methodologies.
- Proficient in Siemens NX or equivalent CAD software.
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Ability to use CFD/FEA analysis tools, Mathcad, or optimisation software.
- Insight into aerospace materials, advanced manufacturing, and real-time testing regimes.
- Project management expertise, including MS Project or similar.
- Certification or mentoring of junior engineers.
