About The Role

Tangerine Group is looking for an experienced and innovative Senior Product Development Scientist to join our Research & Development team.

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD) projects, guiding products from initial concept through to commercial launch. You will work cross-functionally with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and industry experts to deliver scientifically robust and commercially successful solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Innovation

  • Research new ingredients, technologies, and packaging solutions to support future product development opportunities.
  • Monitor industry developments, emerging trends, and market opportunities to help shape innovation strategy.
  • Engage with customers, key opinion leaders, and industry stakeholders throughout the development process.

Project Management

  • Lead NPD and EPD projects from concept through to launch, ensuring delivery against agreed timelines and objectives.
  • Manage project costs, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Lead clinical trial activities, including protocol development, execution, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Coordinate capital equipment (CapEx) projects and support implementation activities.

Product Development

  • Develop and formulate products within the R&D laboratory using both existing and innovative techniques.
  • Transfer products from laboratory development through to manufacturing, including pilot-scale trials and process validation.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation including specifications, manufacturing records, stability protocols, and technical reports.
  • Conduct stability studies and maintain accurate laboratory records.

Operational Support

  • Provide technical expertise to support manufacturing operations and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Support QA/QC investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with suppliers and procurement teams on technical assessments, supplier approvals, and equipment sourcing.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Coach and mentor members of the R&D team.
  • Provide technical support to veterinary advisors and commercial teams.
  • Present technical information at meetings, industry events, and customer-facing activities when required.

  • A Bachelor's degree (minimum 2:1) or equivalent qualification in a science-related discipline.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in product development.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific data.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • High levels of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
