Senior Product Manager - 12 Month FTC (we have office locations in Cambridge, Leeds and London)
Company Description
Genomics England is a global leader in enabling genomic medicine and research, focused on creating a world where everyone benefits from genomic healthcare. Building on the 100,000 Genomes Project, we support the NHS’s world-first national whole genome sequencing service and manage the growing National Genomic Research Library, alongside delivering numerous major genomics initiatives. By connecting research and clinical care at national scale, we enable immediate healthcare benefits and advances for the future.
Our mission is to provide the evidence and digital systems so that, by 2035, genomics could play a role in up to half of all healthcare interactions, whilst securing the UK’s position as the best place to discover, prove and benefit from genomic innovations.
Accelerating our impact involves working with patients, doctors, scientists, government, and industry to:
- Improve genomic testing.
- Help researchers access health data and technology.
- Facilitate new medical discoveries and effective, targeted medicines for everyone.
Genomics England delivers through designing, developing, and operating complex healthcare software systems.
We stand at the threshold of significant change—genomics becoming integral to routine healthcare, from birth to old age.
Job Title: Senior Product Manager (Platform Products)
Help shape the platform behind the UK’s national clinical and genomic infrastructure
At Genomics England, we’re building the digital foundations for genomic medicine at scale.
We seek an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead a portfolio of platform products that underpin the Healthcare Genomics Service—not end-user-facing products, but critical data stores, APIs, and shared capabilities depended on daily by engineering teams and healthcare systems.
The Opportunity
You’ll helm a portfolio of production platform products supporting genomic data processing and access in the Healthcare Genomics Service.
This is a highly technical platform product role ideal for Product Managers with experience in:
- Deploying shared platform, infrastructure, or developer tooling (not customer-focused products).
- Making tactical and strategic decisions to enhance reliability, scalability, and developer experience, balancing operational needs with long-term growth.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
