Senior Product Manager - Autonomous Drone Operations
About SkyBound
SkyBound delivers automated drone operations for critical national infrastructure, providing real-time aerial intelligence to support:
- Safety
- Security
- Faster decision-making
We combine software, AI, and remote operations, with systems managed from our Southampton-based 24/7 control centre and deployed across the UK in some of the most complex airspaces. This enables rapid response and continuous site awareness.
As we continue to scale, we’re looking for a driven Senior Product Manager to join the team and help shape the future of autonomous operations.
Working Pattern
Remote-first with one day per month in-office in Southampton.
Role Summary
As Senior Product Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping SkyBound’s technology by:
- Ensuring the right capabilities reach the market at the right time
- Combining technical understanding, user insight, and strategic product thinking
You’ll work closely with Tech, Design, Service Delivery, and Solutions teams to:
- Refine product requirements
- Align capabilities
- Build an end-to-end roadmap with the Founder, supporting our mission to transform artificial intelligence (AI) in drone operations.

Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Governance
- Manage product requirements, ensuring they are clear, validated, and rooted in real-world needs.
- Conduct an audit of the current product landscape, documenting existing processes, documentation, delivery workflows, and best practices for improvements.
Technical & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Develop deep expertise in:
- SkyBound’s software platform
- Connected hardware
- End-to-end product ecosystem
- Build strong cross-functional relationships, aligning diverse teams on product priorities.
- Engage confidently with technical teams (developers, architects, data scientists) and customer stakeholders.

Product Roadmap & Vision
- Identify, prioritise, and align capabilities by collaborating with:
- Developers
- Design
- Subject-matter experts (SMEs)
- Develop and maintain a balanced product roadmap considering:
- User needs
- Market insights
- Technical feasibility
- Commercial priorities
Building a Sustainable Product Function
- Build the Product function from scratch, shaping:
- Team culture
- Hiring priorities
- Long-term scaling strategies
- Introduce scalable product management practices, including:
- Documentation standards
- Product workflows
- Task management
- Repeatable processes
Stakeholder & Communication Leadership
- Drive cross-functional alignment through clear vision, priorities, and success metrics.
- Translate complex technical concepts into:
- User stories
- Specifications
- Customer-focused requirements
- Facilitate workshops, technical discussions, and planning sessions to ensure cohesion.
Customer & Ecosystem Insight
- Analyze customer challenges, operational workflows, and market needs.
- Focus on design solutions that address real-world problems.
- Identify opportunities to automate or streamline manual processes, improving efficiency.
Operational Excellence
- Support customer engagements with credible product and technical expertise.
- Analyze product performance to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Ensure all product decisions align with:
- SkyBound’s mission
- Long-term strategic vision
- Regulatory and commercial priorities
What We’re Looking For
Core Experience
- Proven Product Management experience in a tech-driven or engineering-focused environment.
- Hands-on experience working within regulated industries, including:
- Fast comprehension of complex compliance requirements
- Deep operational understanding of multi-faceted environments like aviation or national security.

- Proven experience building and managing product roadmaps balancing:

- Ability to translate technical complexity into clear product goals and user-centric requirements.
- Experience introducing product management frameworks and best practices within growing organisations.
- Skilled cross-functional facilitator, comfortable leading:

Commercial & Adaptive Mindset
- Commercially minded, focusing on real customer value that solves meaningful operational problems.
- Proven experience and comfort operating in high-pressure, fast-moving startup environments where you must create structure rather than inherit it.
