Senior Product Manager – Platform Products
Genomics England
Company Description
Genomics England is a global leader in enabling genomic medicine and research, focused on creating a world where everyone benefits from genomic healthcare. Building on the 100,000 Genomes Project, we support the NHS’s world-first national whole genome sequencing service and run the growing National Genomic Research Library, alongside delivering numerous major genomics initiatives. By connecting research and clinical care at national scale, we enable immediate healthcare benefits and advances for the future.
Our mission is to provide the evidence and digital systems so that by 2035 genomics could play a role in up to half of all healthcare interactions, while securing the UK’s position as the best place to discover, prove and benefit from genomic innovations.
We are accelerating our impact and working with patients, doctors, scientists, government, and industry to improve genomic testing and help researchers access the health data and technology needed to make new medical discoveries and create more effective, targeted medicines for everyone.
Behind the Healthcare and Research outcomes, Genomics England delivers through designing, developing, and operating complex healthcare software systems. We’re on the cusp of big changes with the real prospect of genomics becoming the fabric of everyday healthcare through a lifetime—from birth to old age.
Job Title
Senior Product Manager – Platform Products (12-month fixed-term contract, based in London)
About the Role
Help shape the platform behind the UK's national clinical and genomic infrastructure.
At Genomics England, we're building the digital foundations that enable genomic medicine at scale. We’re looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to lead a portfolio of platform products that underpin the Healthcare Genomics Service.
These are not end-user-facing products—they are the critical data stores, APIs, and shared capabilities that engineering teams and healthcare systems rely on daily.
If you’re excited by platform product strategy, enabling complex systems, and working alongside exceptional engineers to solve difficult technical problems with real-world impact, we’d love to hear from you.
The Opportunity
You’ll own a portfolio of production platform products that support genomic data processing and access across the Healthcare Genomics Service.
This is a highly technical platform product role, best suited to Product Managers with experience working on internal platforms, infrastructure, or developer tooling rather than end-user services.
You’ll:
- Make tactical and strategic decisions to improve reliability, scalability, and developer experience across multiple teams.
- Balance today’s operational needs with long-term platform evolution.
- Work at the intersection of product, engineering, and architecture.
- Shape capabilities that enable the wider organisation to move faster while maintaining the consistency and high standards required in a regulated healthcare environment.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead vision, strategy, and roadmap for shared platform products, ensuring their capabilities deliver measurable value across Genomics England and the wider NHS ecosystem.
- Work closely with engineers and technical leads to shape scalable, API-first services and reusable platform capabilities.

- Partner with peers to define a long-term platform product strategy and drive migration away from legacy components.
- Use data and meaningful outcome measures to assess platform health and impact.
- Identify common capabilities, reduce duplication, and improve developer experience across teams.
- Operate confidently in a complex regulatory environment with strong governance and assurance requirements.
- Build trusted relationships with technical and business stakeholders, making transparent prioritisation and trade-off decisions.
- Mentor product managers and contribute to product excellence organisation-wide.

- A pragmatic, outcome-focused approach to decision-making under ambiguity.
- Experience in healthcare or genomics is helpful but not essential. We prioritise your ability to lead complex technical products and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
