Job Description

Senior Product Manager – vPAC | Grid Automation & Software | Stafford, UK

Are you ready to help shape the future of grid automation — defining how protection, automation and control evolves from dedicated hardware into software-defined infrastructure for the world’s electricity networks?

GE Vernova is looking for a Senior Product Manager – vPAC to join our Grid Automation & Software team. Stafford, United Kingdom is the preferred location, with flexibility to consider candidates in other approved GE Vernova locations where local employment arrangements can be supported.

GE Vernova – The Energy to Change the World

With over 130 years of experience and proven innovation, GE Vernova is leading a new era of energy. We are electrifying the world while working to decarbonise it. Our name reflects our mission. “GE” carries a legacy of quality and ingenuity. “Ver” signals Earth’s lush ecosystems, while “Nova” nods to the new era of lower-carbon energy we are helping to deliver.

Focused on the future, GE Vernova is accelerating the shift to reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy. We help customers power economies and deliver electricity that is vital to health, safety, security, and quality of life.

Our Electrification solutions modernise grids, enable renewable integration, and strengthen energy systems. From grid automation and software to power conversion and storage, we help create smarter, more resilient energy networks.

Let’s Talk about the Role

The Senior Product Manager – vPAC will own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and commercial direction for GE Vernova’s Virtualized Protection, Automation and Control portfolio.

This is a strategic product leadership role within the Transmission Protection, Automation and Control product line. You will help define how protection and control functions evolve from dedicated hardware platforms toward software-defined, virtualized solutions running on standardised compute infrastructure.

The role requires a strong balance of business leadership, product vision, stakeholder influence, market understanding, and technical credibility. You do not need to be the deepest technical expert in the room; however, you will need enough understanding of protection, automation and control, software-defined systems, and utility customer needs to build trust with engineering teams, customers, and senior stakeholders.

Working across Product Management, Product Owners, R&D, Engineering, Technology, Sales, Marketing, Services, Programme Management, and regional commercial teams, you will translate market opportunities and customer needs into a clear product strategy, prioritised roadmap, compelling value propositions, and commercially successful product outcomes.

This is a highly collaborative role with significant influence across global teams. You will not have direct line management responsibility, but you will need to lead through influence, align stakeholders around a shared vision, and guide decision-making across complex technical, commercial, and regional priorities.

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Define and own the long-term vision, strategy, roadmap, and commercial direction for the vPAC portfolio, ensuring alignment with the wider Grid Automation & Software and Transmission PAC strategy.
  • Identify market opportunities, customer needs, technology trends, competitive dynamics, and disruptive business models that will shape the future of software-defined protection, automation and control.
  • Translate customer insight and market intelligence into clear value propositions, product outcomes, release priorities, and high-level requirements that support customer value and profitable business growth.
  • Lead Voice of Customer activities, working closely with utilities, regional teams, partners, and industry stakeholders to validate market opportunities, understand operational challenges, and identify unmet customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain robust product roadmaps and business cases, using input from customers, regions, market analysis, engineering teams, and commercial stakeholders to support investment and prioritisation decisions.
  • Guide and coordinate Product Owners responsible for detailed requirements, technical specifications, user stories, and product documentation, ensuring their work remains aligned to the overall product strategy and roadmap.
  • Partner closely with R&D, Engineering, Technology, and Programme Management to ensure product priorities are understood, delivered effectively, and connected to clear business and customer outcomes.
  • Own product lifecycle decisions from ideation through launch, growth, sustainment, and end-of-life, including recommendations on investment, acceleration, repositioning, or retirement.
  • Drive commercial performance across the portfolio, including revenue growth, profitability, pricing strategy, packaging, business model development, market adoption, and return on investment.
  • Define and monitor product KPIs, including customer adoption, financial performance, competitive positioning, customer satisfaction, and effectiveness of R&D investment.
  • Lead go-to-market planning by defining product positioning, segmentation, messaging, launch priorities, and sales enablement needs in partnership with Marketing, Sales, and regional commercial teams.
  • Support strategic customer engagements, executive presentations, conferences, and product discussions, acting as a credible product leader for both internal and external audiences.
  • Build relationships with technology partners, virtualization platform providers, system integrators, standards bodies, and other ecosystem stakeholders that can strengthen the long-term competitiveness of the vPAC portfolio.
  • Represent GE Vernova in relevant industry forums and standards discussions, including areas such as IEC, IEEE, IEC 61850, IEC 62443, digital substations, cybersecurity, and software-defined grid automation.
  • Influence global stakeholders across Product Management, R&D, Engineering, Sales, Services, Supply Chain, Marketing, and regional teams without direct authority, creating alignment around priorities, trade-offs, and product direction.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
