Senior Product Owner – Lending Products
Edinburgh (Hybrid)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Owner – Lending Products to take strategic ownership of a portfolio of non-regulated lending products, including commercial lending, bespoke lending solutions and associated client journeys. This role is responsible for the development, governance and continuous improvement of lending propositions, ensuring they deliver excellent client outcomes, operate efficiently, manage risk effectively and achieve sustainable commercial performance throughout their lifecycle.
Working within a regulated financial services environment, you will collaborate across the business to translate strategic objectives into clear product roadmaps, operational improvements and scalable lending capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, enhancement and optimisation of lending products, operational processes and digital capabilities.
- Ensure lending propositions remain commercially competitive, operationally efficient and aligned with client and intermediary needs.
- Deliver strategic, regulatory and technology change initiatives through established governance frameworks.
- Oversee product governance, including product approvals, reviews, pricing changes, policy alignment and product lifecycle management.
- Monitor product performance using management information, client feedback, utilisation trends, operational metrics and commercial performance data.
- Partner closely with Credit Risk to ensure alignment between product design, underwriting appetite, portfolio performance and operational delivery.
- Drive improvements across onboarding, credit assessment, fulfilment, servicing and client management journeys.
- Ensure operational processes, controls and systems remain robust, scalable and compliant with regulatory expectations.
- Manage relationships with third-party providers, intermediaries, technology partners and other key suppliers supporting lending activities.
- Support digital transformation initiatives through workflow optimisation, automation and data-driven decision making.
- Maintain and enhance training and competency frameworks, ensuring colleagues involved in lending activities have the knowledge, skills and understanding required to deliver positive client outcomes.
- Work closely with Compliance, Risk and Operations to strengthen quality assurance, coaching and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor conduct indicators, complaints, operational risk events and quality assurance findings to identify training opportunities and enhance colleague capability.
- Act as the subject matter expert for lending products across commercial, operational, regulatory and governance disciplines.

About You
You'll bring a strong combination of commercial awareness, product ownership experience and regulatory knowledge within a lending environment.

We're looking for someone who has:
- Significant experience managing lending products within a regulated financial services environment.
- Strong understanding of commercial and/or bespoke lending products.
- Experience balancing commercial objectives, client outcomes and risk management.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work across multiple business functions.
- A track record of delivering product enhancements, change initiatives and process improvements.
- Experience working with governance, regulatory and risk frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform decision making.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams.
- A passion for delivering outstanding customer outcomes while supporting business growth.
