Senior Product Test Development Engineer

Glenrothes & Livingston | Full Time | Permanent

Copello is supporting the recruitment of a Senior Product Test Development Engineer to join an established and growing engineering team within a highly regulated, advanced technology environment. This opportunity offers strong long-term career progression within an R&D-driven organisation that is investing in future capability and expanding its technical teams.

The Role

As a Senior Product Test Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, manufacture, verification, validation, and through-life support of test equipment at board, sub-system, and system level. You will work on complex electronic systems deployed across a range of demanding applications, contributing to technically challenging and safety-critical programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop functional test equipment for electronic systems
  • Lead and support hardware/software integration and fault diagnosis
  • Provide lifecycle and production support, including issue resolution and obsolescence management
  • Work collaboratively across engineering disciplines to deliver scalable test solutions
  • Lead design reviews and produce high-quality technical documentation
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

Required Experience

  • Strong knowledge of analogue and digital electronic circuit design
  • Ability to produce detailed technical design documentation
  • Experience transferring designs into production environments
  • Excellent hardware fault-finding and debugging skills
  • Test software development experience
  • Experience supporting and debugging system integration
  • Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (minimum BPSS, ideally SC)

Desirable Experience

  • Significant industry experience in test development
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools
  • Knowledge of common test architectures (e.g., PXI/LXI)
  • Understanding of measurement uncertainty and its application in test equipment validation
  • Experience with LabVIEW, CVI, TestStand, C# or similar software tools
  • Mixed-signal circuit design
  • High-speed serial networks
  • RF electronics knowledge
  • Power supply design experience
