About the Role
This is an ideal opportunity for experienced professionals in the Professional Indemnity (PI) underwriting space who thrive in leadership and strategy. If you enjoy shaping underwriting policies, advising broker strategies, and developing teams, this role could be your next step forward.
Joining Aviva’s Professional Indemnity underwriting team, you will:
- Take full ownership of a high-value PI portfolio, making critical underwriting decisions.
- Guide complex risk cases and collaborate closely with brokers.
- Influence broker strategies and contribute to profitability and sustainable growth.
- Mentor junior underwriters and drive team capability improvements.
- Foster operational efficiency, ensuring consistency and better underwriting outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Own a portfolio of high-value PI risks, guiding portfolio growth and delivery.
- Make key underwriting decisions in complex and sensitve cases.
- Engage with top-tier brokers to shape risk appetites and commercial strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on underwriting enhancements, compliance, and performance.
- Develop team members through mentorship and professional development.
- Deliver profitable, long-term business growth via data-driven underwriting.

What You’ll Bring
- Extensive experience underwriting complex PI risks, with a track record managing high-value cases.
- Deep understanding of regulated markets, emerging trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity.
- Proven ability to develop strong broker relationships and negotiate winning commercial outcomes.
- Experience resolving multi-layered referral cases with strategic acumen.
- Comfortable in a mentoring role and proactive in fostering a culture of continuous learning.
