Job Description
Chubb is seeking a highly capable and commercially driven Senior Professional Indemnity Underwriter to join our UK&I team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced underwriting professional to play a key role in the growth of our Professional Indemnity portfolio, with a particular focus on middle market and SME business. The role can be based from our Manchester, Birmingham or London office.
This role will be primarily focused on new business and development, while also taking responsibility for a selection of larger renewals. The successful candidate will bring strong technical underwriting expertise, a well-established external network, and a proven ability to build broker relationships that support profitable growth. You will also play an important role in coaching and supporting colleagues, helping to develop capability across the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwriting profitable Professional Indemnity business across middle market and SME segments
- Driving new business growth through strong broker engagement and market presence
- Managing and retaining a portfolio of larger renewals where appropriate
- Building and maintaining a strong external network to support Chubb’s growth plans in PI
- Working closely with brokers to identify opportunities and deliver tailored solutions
- Coaching and supporting colleagues within the team
- Contributing to underwriting strategy, appetite and trading approach
- Ensuring underwriting decisions align with Chubb’s risk appetite, profitability targets and service standards

Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Professional Indemnity underwriting
- Ideally 10 years’ experience in the insurance industry
- Strong track record in new business development
- Experience handling renewals, including larger or more complex accounts
- Excellent broker relationship and networking skills
- Ability to coach and support others within a team environment
- Strong commercial judgement and technical underwriting capability
- Clear communication, negotiation and influencing skills
- A proactive, externally focused approach to market development
- CII qualifications (desirable)
- Knowledge and experience of Acturis/E-trade platforms (desirable)
